ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS
Your Medicare questions, answered.
Clear starting points for your next conversation. Your eligibility and plan details determine the options available to you.
When is Medicare Annual Enrollment for 2027 coverage?
Medicare Annual Enrollment runs October 15–December 7, 2026. Eligible changes to Medicare Advantage and Part D generally take effect January 1, 2027. This fall window is different from your first Medicare enrollment period.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?
Medicare Advantage is a private-plan way to receive Medicare benefits and often includes drug coverage. Medicare Supplement, also called Medigap, helps pay certain costs left by Original Medicare. You cannot use Medigap to pay Medicare Advantage cost sharing.
Can I keep my doctor when I change Medicare plans?
It depends on the coverage you choose. Medicare Advantage plans may use provider networks. Check the exact plan, doctor, and practice location with both the insurer and the provider. With Original Medicare, you can generally use providers who accept Medicare.
How do I check whether a plan covers my prescriptions?
Compare each medication’s name, strength, quantity, and refill schedule against the plan’s formulary. Check the pharmacy network, estimated annual costs, and rules such as prior authorization. A drug being covered does not mean it has the same cost in every plan.
Can I buy any Medigap policy during fall Annual Enrollment?
Fall Annual Enrollment does not create a general guaranteed right to buy Medigap. Your six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period, any guaranteed issue rights, and state protections matter. Outside those protections, medical underwriting may apply. Review this before leaving Medicare Advantage.
Do I need to change my Medicare plan every year?
No. Review your plan’s Annual Notice of Change and your needs each fall. If the plan continues and still fits, you may be able to keep it. Check notices carefully for changes to costs, benefits, and plan availability.
What should I bring to a Medicare consultation?
Bring your current plan information, a list of doctors and hospitals, your prescriptions and doses, and your preferred pharmacies. Questions about retirement, employer coverage, travel, or upcoming care are helpful too. You do not need to know the insurance terminology before calling.
Does Lifetime Medicare Partners help after enrollment?
Yes. Our team remains available for annual plan reviews, coverage questions, and help navigating claims concerns. Start with a free consultation, and work with people you can return to when your needs change.
